Why Employ a Home Stager?
/Home stagers have knowledge of both design trends and the real estate industry. Without both of these areas of knowledge the home stager could potentially stage a property in a way that won’t stand out or work in the current market.
Forming relationships with many different industries is key. Good connections with real estate agents is important in creating a successful home staging business as a large number of projects come from real estate agents. But also having great interpersonal and relational skills is extremely important when talking with homeowners who are likely feeling stressed and emotional. Home stagers also forge relationships with design and interior companies as well as trades people and removalists. They need to be handy and practical when it comes to repairing minor scratches and faults in furniture and hands on with moving around heavy pieces of furniture. They are able to work in time pressured tight deadlines, whilst always looking tidy, stylish and professional!
The home stager is also able to take an objective step back and look at your property through an analytical lense which is often extremely difficult when you have lived in, worked on, created memories in a home. The home stager will gently direct and advise the vendor on the necessary ‘improvements’ that will help them reach the best possible outcome.
It is important, I believe to consider this diverse range of skill sets when considering whether or not you would like to invest in a home stager for your property or home. It can seem like a lot to be paying for something that may seem simple to accomplish yourself. However as noted above home stagers have worked many hours outside of the time it takes to do the installation to put together the end product which is often not feasible for any one person with many other responsibilities to achieve, therefore potentially rendering the outcome lacking.
